What?! Nooooooo!
His voice is iconic. Him, Dan Rather, Peter Jennings (jeez... The scandals with those two), and a local anchor of similar age were literally the voices I grew up with. They *were* the news.
Too many people are dying this year. I don't like it.

Peter Jennings is how I got my dad to quit smoking. I was a senior in college when he died and I knew that my dad had been a closet smoker for a long time, but had never done anything about it. The day after Jennings died, I called my dad and told him he was quitting then and there. It’s been nearly 11 years and he’s been smoke-free ever since.
